Secondary marine education programme
Our marine education programme for secondary schools includes a range of learning options.
The Marine Biodiversity - Life Beneath the Surface workshop is a wonderful indoor option, providing students with an introduction to the wealth of marine life in our seas and oceans, whereas the Scientific Study of a Coastal Ecosystem workshop goes a step further, including a practical class and ecological survey on the seashore. We're also very excited about our new Marine and Coastal Conservation Management workshop, which includes a bird, seal and porpoise survey on Bray Head. All our classes introduce young people to the wonders of nature and the marine environment.
Our Introduction to Marine Biology course for teens is also run through our summer school. Now including kayaking, snorkelling and SCUBA diving options, this unique course is popular with young people considering a career Marine Biology, particularly Transition Year students, who then have the option of applying for a work placement with Marine Dimensions. The course can also be run through the academic year as a private option for secondary schools.
